Not a COWPU event per se, but thought it might be of interest to the crowd!

What: Social Media Clinic
When: Saturday, December 27 at 10:00 am
Where: Balay Coffeehouse in Bend, Oregon

First topics will include wordpress & twitter. Future topics will cover brightkite, facebook, upcoming, google profiles, &c. I imagine it will not take very long for me to exhaust my knowledge and get everyone in the clinic caught up to where I am ~ at which point, the clinics can shift into a study group, where we all explore & share knowledge together.

Sharepoint Usergroup

The first meeting of the Bend SharePoint User Group will be this Friday, December 12th, from 12:00 – 1:30PM. Pizza and networking begins at 12PM. Please bring $4 to contribute towards pizza, or feel free to bring your own lunch.

The meeting will be held at the Cinetix Solutions office at 780 NW York Drive, Suite #204.

Directions: Mt. Washington Drive, turn west onto NW Crossing Drive towards Summit High School, left on Charbonneau, left on York. (Map)

Agenda for our first meeting:

Jason Hamlin (Les Schwab) and Barb Troyer (Cinetix Solutions) will share how they are solving real world business problems with SharePoint 2007. We invite you to take 10 minutes or so to share with the group ways in which you are utilizing or planning to utilize SharePoint through your own company.

We're envisioning an interactive user group in which we share ideas and training. Let's brainstorm as a group regarding what we would like to see this group become, topic ideas, etc.

To gauge the number of potential attendees for our first meeting, please RSVP.

Awww, crud. (Not that kind of CRUD. Wow, you are a geek!) Here it is, December 1 already. What with traveling to the Adobe MAX conference in San Francisco and Thanksgiving in Klamath Falls I was a big slacker and never got around to planning a meeting. I'm sorry, folks!

Hopefully maybe this will tide everyone over...

What's a Tweet-up, you might be asking? It's a real world meeting between two or more people who know each other through the online Twitter service. (Don't know what Twitter is? Click here to find out.) Not using Twitter yet? Maybe it's time to start! (But you are welcome to attend the Tweet-up, either way!)

Those crazy Bend Twitter folks found another cool guy who's coming to Bend tomorrow and asked us to spread the word.

We're meeting at the Blacksmith for a no-host happy hour to welcome Andrew Hyde. He's the community manager for Techstars, a well known startup incubator in Boulder.

Come meet your fellow techies and Twitter-ers (Twits!) for a purely social networking event after work.
