Software / Firmware Engineer

Overview:
Our client is looking for a Software/Firmware Engineer that can support product development through embedded firmware development and support test through LabVIEW test automation as needed.

Our client focuses on technologies that efficiently and reliably convert the energy of sunlight into useable electrical power. Our client’s technology generates clean, renewable power without depleting any natural resources or impacting our environment in any way.

Our client delivers grid-tied solar inverters from 1kW to 500kW with integrated monitoring solutions to the exploding solar photovoltaic industry. Sophisticated software, firmware, and hardware contribute to a first class inverter product. These inverters require extensive product qualification from both a regulatory and reliability perspective.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop embedded firmware for inverter based control and instrumentation system
  • Develop embedded firmware for Internet based data monitoring platform
  • Automate test systems for engineering and manufacturing
    • Develop and maintain automated production line test tools for residential and commercial inverters
    • Create automation and logging interfaces for test instrumentation
    • Develop micro-grid system allowing for automated, grid isolated inverter operation
    • Create optimized regulatory test tools to streamline regulatory testing
  • Document system software requirements specifications, test cases, and qualification results
  • Leverage best-practice software engineering processes, utilizing appropriate tools
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong software development background, familiar with all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with TI DSP firmware development (24xx or 28xx preferred)
  • Experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++
  • Experience in developing embedded Internet based tools a plus
  • Experience developing power converter or motor control firmware preferred
  • Demonstrated LabVIEW development experience
  • Experience in NI Teststand preferred
  • Experience with software quality management tools such as SVN, Trac, Bugzilla
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years experience in web-based system architecture design and development
Desired Attributes:
  • Good time management skills with project management experience a plus
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Stay abreast of latest technologies and trends
  • Balance working hard with playing hard

Excellent Introduction to DV production

I found this book very easy and enjoyable to read. The author is very thorough and the example material is just enough to get you going. I highly suggest this book for anyone looking for a DV production primer.
