Meetings are on the last Wednesday of every month!

A Very Special Meeting

Our August meeting is gonna sizzle... really! You will definitely want to save the date for this one.

Please join us on Tuesday, August 21 at 6pm. Due to the very special nature of this month's meeting you must RSVP in advance. The location of the meeting will not be announced publicly (on this site or on upcoming.org) so you must let me know ahead of time so that you know where to go!

So... have I piqued your curiousity yet? Any guesses as to this month's topic, or the presenter? Here goes...

Topic: Chillin' and Grillin' with Evan Heidtmann
Location: COWPU Central (You must contact Jen or RSVP in advance)

It's summer and time to take a break from the geeky topics. We are going to talk about getting in touch with your inner carnivore and how to successfully grill up some meat. We will cooking some of Evan's favorite things: salmon, steak, pork chops, chicken, and bacon. Yes, you heard it... bacon. If you haven't had it it'll be a memorable experience.

Jen and Evan will be supplying the meat. If you want anything else to eat then bring it along.

We will be needing somebody to bring beers. And, if anyone can bring corn on the cob (leave the husks on) and some asparagus we'll talk about how to grill those.

Webformix is Hiring

We currently have limited positions open. We would like to hire driven, committed individuals who can cover as many of these skills as possible. For example, if you are able to take on more than one of the following responsibilities for us we are likely to rank your application more highly! Flexibility is the key. :)

You can read more about Webformix the company at the bottom of this message.

• Priority #1: Site Installer
We need to have as many people on staff as we can who are able to install wireless internet systems on our customers' property, and troubleshoot existing installations.
- ability and desire to work outdoors (climbing on roofs will be commonplace)
- capacity to drive long distances. (40-80 miles per day in company vehicle, seeing 2-4 clients per day)
- proficiency with simple tools (hammer, wrench, screw driver, zip ties, ladders, etc)
- great documentation skills (never miss a step in the process, never miss a form to fill out for an install)
- moderate computer skills at least -- but especially the knack for "making things work". For example, if you can program a VCR (or a TiVo), you have our attention.
- ability to crimp ethernet cable is a plus (easy to learn on the job!)

• Priority #2: Internet Technical Support
We need more people to help us man the phones and address the questions of customers whose internet is not working.
- Good multitasking skills -- you'll need to chat with the client and look up information on a computer at the same time.
- Pleasant, reassuring tone; mild temperment.
- Again, the knack for modeling problems in your head and "making things work" is magic for this position
- Computer skills. We use a web based tool to manage customer relationships and keep our data together.
- Customer commitment!

• Priority #3: sales/marketing skills
We have marketing campaigns, signs, fliers, brochures.. we need a few more man hours per week to help us plan and organize this. Less pressing the flesh but more PR and grass roots presence building.
